Verdict

Choose it when the shelving itself needs to contribute to the room's architecture and you expect the layout to evolve. Skip it when most possessions need concealed storage or when the budget would be better spent on a simple bookcase plus a substantial sideboard. The system is strongest as a carefully edited framework, not as maximum storage per dollar.
